Designed and manufactured an FSAE rules legal scatter guard to enclose the EMRAX 228
What?
With an spinning exterior electric motor powering the vehicle, the rules mandate a scatter guard to fully surround the motor
Must be rigid enough such that it does not vibrate, but also easy to remove for serviceability of the motor
How?
In the SolidWorks assembly, I identified mounting points for rigidity and installation accessibility
Designed four tabs and a unique overlapping motor guard for ease of alignment and reduced mass
Results
Surrounded the motor fully, ensuring technical inspection passes
Reduced mass compared to last year by 15% due to smaller mounting tabs
Maintained ease of removal in a tightly packaged chassis and driveline system
